Armand Petitjean, perfumer and cosmetician, devoted his life to his dream of giving women the most beautiful things possible.
For them, he created Lancôme. For them, he selected the rose. For them, he surrounded himself with the best researchers. For them, he began an exemplary adventure in the realm of passion.
The art of being beautiful "à la française."
His passion for fragrances inspired Armand Petitjean to take a spectacular step: in 1935, he launched Lancôme with five great fragrances. Audacious? Yes, but Armand Petitjean was a product of the school of François Coty, the "father of 20th century luxury perfumes."
"Tropiques", "Tendres Nuits", "Kypre", and "Bocages", rare perfumes which would be followed by so many others, among them the prestigious "Magie" of the nineteen-fifties. Nearly all the bottles were created by the great artist Georges Delhomme.

The bottles Georges Delhomme created for Lancôme are today collectors' items.
The Fish-Moon bottle for the eau de cologne Cachet Bleu (1935)
The bottle with an engraved jasmine flower in blossom could contain different fragrances (1935)
The amphora of "Marrakech" today commands astronomical prices (1947)
Skin Care: an immediate success
The assurance of eternal beauty, the dream of all women. Lancôme has worked to realize this dream by placing capital importance on scientific research. Beginning in 1936, the Lancôme brand stood out with its Nutrix cream. Its formula, which has not changed to this day, is based on natural serum with nutritive and regenerating qualities. Later, Lancôme would launch the Océane product line (1955) with a concept very much in the mode today: its formula contains very pure sea water enriched with algae and oligo-elements. The success of these innovations owes much to the "techniciennes", the women who graduate from the Lancôme school and carry the brand's message all over the world.
Lancôme make-up makes itself known for its refined luxury.
Lancôme has a sensual love for women. For them, Lancôme has created the most delicious of lipsticks, Rose de France. A pink lipstick, the first pink lipstick scented with natural bulgarian rose.
The powders are scented with "seduction" and their colors contain an infinity of nuances with a palette of 18 shades. The make-up "objects" are little works of art: refined powder boxes, ornate finely-gilt cases, real jewels for the lipsticks. | | | Share Your Review!
